Alcohol Myopia

Intoxication can result in cognitive nearsightedness or myopia. At BACs above .06, alcohol begins to substantially decrease reasoning abilities, judgment, and ability to concentrate. You begin to focus on the immediate and obvious cues, and fail to consider long-term consequences. Alcohol reduces the range of what you perceive and process, and subtle social cues are missed.

As a result you may misperceive situations, fail to process the social cues that others are giving you, and fail to consider future consequences of your actions.
Alcohol Myopia is engaging in a behavior that is either socially inappropriate, puts that person or others at risk, or something that the person would not normally do as a result of consuming alcohol.
