When Away

If you would like for someone from the College Alcohol Abuse Prevention Center to make a presentation in one of your classes we have a number of options.

Reality Check: What Students Don’t Know About Alcohol Use at Virginia Tech. Students overestimate the use of alcohol by peers. This program is designed to provide students with insights concerning “actual alcohol use on the VT campus using an interactive exercise and discussion format. Contact: Steven Clarke, 231-4568, sclarke@vt.edu.

Alcohol and Academic Success. At VT, 20% of students report that alcohol has had a negative effect on their GPA at some point during college. This program will provide information on the relation between academic success and alcohol use and how students can avoid academic problems related to alcohol use. Contact: Steven Clarke, 231-4568, sclarke@vt.edu.

Topical Issues Related to Alcohol. Want to integrate alcohol issues into your course content. We will develop a lecture, exercise, or discussion on a specific course-related topic. If you need ideas, please give us a call. Please allow 2 – 3 weeks for us to prepare class materials. Contact: Steven Clarke, 231-4568, sclarke@vt.edu.
