CAAPC Mission

To provide leadership in the development and evaluation of alcohol abuse prevention programs on the Virginia Tech campus and in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

CAAPC Goals

• Design, pilot and seek to institutionalize innovative, research-based programming and prevention efforts for the student community at Virginia Tech.
• Coordinate the strategic planning and implementation of Virginia Tech alcohol abuse prevention efforts and maintain consistency in the prevention messages promoted by offices and departments at Virginia Tech.
• Monitor and report to the University community, on an annual basis, the alcohol use behaviors of Virginia Tech students and the status of alcohol abuse prevention efforts.
• Serve as a consultant, provide support, and act as a clearinghouse for campus wide and Commonwealth efforts to prevent alcohol abuse among college students.
• Seek local, state and federal grants to support the development, evaluation, and dissemination of alcohol abuse prevention programs for college students.

Hi We, here at the CAAPC, are looking at using today's technology to spread awareness about alcohol-related issues. This website goes a long way in that direction. Whether you are a student, parent, faculty member or just about anyone wanting to know more about the Alcohol related issues at Virginia Tech, this is the one-stop destination to all your questions and the information you seek. We soon plan to make this website interactive, and students who enroll in our educational classes will be able to do much more than what this static version has to offer.
